About
Shri Chandra Kant Tiwari is an Electrical Engineering graduate from IIT, Roorkee,
(formerly known as University of Roorkee). He is equally passionate about men and
machines & loves to work with both.
Shri Tiwari has more than 38 years of rich experience of working with Indian Oil
Corporation Limited in various fields of refinery and petrochemical operations. He
has headed departments of Power & Utilities (Operations & Maintenance),
Projects, Engineering Service & Contracts, Learning & Development functions at
various refinery units at Mathura, Guwahati, Panipat, Barauni, Naphtha Cracker,
Haldia of the Corporation. He has vast knowledge of Power Plant, Utilities, and
Power System and Project Management.
He retired as Executive Director & Head of IOCL’s apex L&D Institute named Indian
Oil Institute of Petroleum Management (IiPM). Prior to taking over as head of this
institute, he was Executive Director & Head of Haldia Refinery in West Bengal.
While, Operational Excellence and Root Cause Analysis are his passion and
strengths, Shri Tiwari believes and practices Preventive & Predictive maintenance
techniques and proper upkeep of plant & equipment. He is passionate and learning
about AI and ML.
Strong believer of TPM for achieving concept of ZERO… A, B, C, D…
Accident, Breakdown, Crisis and Defects in all activities, Shri Tiwari strongly
advocates concept of “4As” i.e. Awareness, Acceptance, Actions and Assimilation
for brining lasting behavioral changes.
Strong believer in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ensuring safe and
consistent high performance, Shri Tiwari believes and demonstrates that Doing all
things right; First Time right; Every time right and Continuously right is the success
mantra… According to him doing mundane things consistently well is excellence.
He has been member of many committees including leader of committee for
review and up-dation of OISD 137 standard for Inspection of Electrical Equipment
and the L&D committee, for reshaping of L&D activities in IOCL. Majority of
committee recommendations are either implemented or are under advance stage
of implementation and are yielding positive results including paradigm shift
towards perceiving L&D as The Key Differentiator and valuable partner in growth
of the organisation.
Shri Tiwari, an avid sportsman and admirer of sporting activities, likes to travel,
write drama, short act plays, stories and literature. An orator par excellence, while
Shri Tiwari holds his own on any subject, is inclined more towardstechnical subjects
and topics of social awareness, commitment and responsibility.
Shri Tiwari has been moulded through gathered knowledge and learnings from the
past and adept at applying contemporary thought to present modern ideas and
innovations.

Behavioural Safety etc. 5S and TPM are his passion. Can encourage the teams for
cultural revolution.
Post retirement, he has completed Lead Auditor Course for ISO – 21001 and is now
certified lead auditor for Management System for Educational Organization.
A Learner by Choice, Mentor by Heart, he enjoysinteracting with young generation.
He guides & encourages them to explore their untapped potential for personal and
professional growth.
