About Sanjay

I have over 37 years of experience in financial services domain in private equity/ venture capital investments and corporate banking focused on mid-market companies.

I have held leadership roles and senior positions in both private sector and public sector organizations in India. As Managing Director & CEO of GVFL Ltd. (one of the earliest VC firm in India) made some marquee investments in mid-sized/ technology driven companies and startups across sectors as also made some highly successful multi-bagger exits. Some of the other past assignments include President and COO at India Venture Advisors, a Piramal group’s private equity company, Director at SS Ventures Pvt. Ltd. (a JV firm of Softbank Investment, Japan & SBICAPS), Vice President (BD) at Asset Reconstruction Company of India Ltd., Vice President (Private equity) at Reliance Capital and AGM at Corporate Treasury of State Bank of India.

I have significant Board level experience with several companies where I provided strategic inputs, mentoring and value addition by providing strategic direction and access to my extensive network.

I am currently member of the Investment Committee of Self Reliant India Fund (a 1.2 billion USD Fund of Funds sponsored by Government of India), CIIE-IIM-A Seed Fund and North-East Venture Fund besides being actively involved in development of startup ecosystem and policy initiatives. I’m a regular speaker & panelist on banking and investments at various forums.
